We were scheduled to have services today in Game and Amlakope, but it didn't work out for us to go to these locations.
Breakfast. I think we ate the same for breakfast every day -- some kind of omelet (with ham, cheese or vegetables added in) and bread. We'd had a stretch with no coffee available, so Tero was especially delighted to be able to have two cups and make it as strong as he liked with the instant coffee mix!
It amazes me how much stuff, what shaped stuff, and the number of people they are able to get on a motorbike!
All the vendors trying to sell Emmanuel some fruit.
Some curious boys.
Selling their wares
The roads to services
We had a home visit today in Adetikope. The other two locations didn't work out, but this family welcomed us. They live as the only believing family in their village, but said they often travel to nearby villages to hear services there. Because of the schedule change, Dad didn't realize it was this home that we were going to visit. He served here on his first trip to Africa in 2012. It was an emotional visit for him as he was filled with joy to see them all preciously endeavoring to believe.
Dad gave a devotion and Amos (the oldest) translated.
Jeremy, Philippe, and Verfeline. There are also two older brothers, Eric and Edmond.
Amos and his mom, Deborah.
After this home visit, we traveled back to Lome. We enjoyed a visit and delicious lunch at Emmanuel's house.
Thara, 3 years, 2 months
The hired laundry lady has a big job!
Amelie, Emmanual's wife, is frying plantain. I asked what she was cooking on and was told it was a stove - it looks a little different than what we know as a stove at home. They use coal to heat it.
Amazing food! We also enjoyed some fresh coconut milk and fresh pineapple and oranges. While we were inclined to have the fruit after our meal, we learned that it is custom here to eat the fruit first. And so we did.
Umm. How adorable are these two kiddos??!!
Thara and Aymon-Jo (1 year, 9 months)
Beautiful Gloria. She is 11 years old.
We missed visiting with Armo (12) who was tending to his mom's shop while she was home cooking for us.
We had the pleasure to spend the afternoon with Momo, who is married to Joni Simonson and waiting for his paperwork to be completed so he can move to Saskatoon.
Aymon-Jo, Emmanuel's sister Celestine, and Emmanuel - my dad was recording them giving greetings.
We visited at Amelie's shop.
She has several students that work with her.
Note her hot iron out on the edge of the street..
We also stopped at Asigami (Big Market) this afternoon, Sheriff and Momo were our guides. I enjoyed the crazy of the market, but my dad and Tero were fine avoiding it after this experience.
If I remember correctly, I think they said this is the oldest church in Togo.
"Take my picture!"
A stop in the grocery store afterwards felt a little more like home..
