August 1st-2nd: From Minnesota to Togo

Off to the airport!! Aaron and Eeva are accompanying us on this part of the journey.  My anxiety has settled nicely into excitement!

On board!!

We had been pushed off from the gate and then technical issues were discovered.  Back to the gate we went for repairs.  This resulted in about a 1 hour delay.  Thankfully, we had plenty of time in Paris to make our next flight.

We stretched our legs a bit in Paris by walking around the airport.

Our flight leaving Paris was also delayed by an hour - we had to wait for a couple of suitcases to make the flight and then we had to wait again for air traffic control to give us clearance for take off.

We think we spotted the Eiffel Tower!

We arrived in Lome around 1030pm.  We had no problems making it through the health department check (thank you, yellow fever card) !

Uncle, Orland, and Douglas were there at the airport to meet us.  It was a short drive to our hotel, where we were able to meet Tero Lehtola, from Sweden.  Orland offered to take us out to eat before bed, but we declined as we were more than ready to settle in for the night.
